Assemblyman Schnall Commends Howell Township Council on Passage of Anti-Semitism Resolution

Assemblyman Avi Schnall today praised the Howell Township Council’s unanimous decision to pass a resolution condemning anti-Semitism in all its forms. The resolution, passed on Tuesday evening, comes at a crucial time, marking a stand against the alarming rise in anti-Semitic incidents across the United States, especially noted since the Hamas attack in southern Israel on October 7, 2023, which left 1,200 dead.

“This resolution is a testament to Howell Township’s commitment to inclusivity and respect for all individuals,” said Assemblyman Schnall. “At a time when antisemitism is disturbingly on the rise, including overt expressions of hate on college campuses and elsewhere, it is imperative for leaders at every level to voice their opposition to such hateful sentiments and actions unequivocally.”

The resolution gains further significance in light of a recent Anti-Defamation League report which highlighted an unprecedented surge in antisemitic incidents in New Jersey last year, marking the highest number recorded in the state’s history.

Assemblyman Schnall remarked, “It is especially important now for elected officials to stand boldly and firmly against antisemitic hate and bigotry. The Howell Township Council has set a commendable example of leadership by acknowledging the serious implications of such hatred and taking clear steps to combat it.”

The Assemblyman urges other townships and communities to follow in Howell’s footsteps, fostering environments where hate and discrimination are actively opposed, and where diversity and mutual respect are vigorously promoted.
