Monmouth Medical Center Southern Campus (MMCSC) has named Victor M. Almeida, DO, FACEP, FACOEP, its Chief Medical Officer (CMO). Dr. Almeida is responsible for the overall clinical vision of the hospital. In this position, he will provide medical oversight, expertise and leadership to ensure the delivery of the highest quality health care services.
Prior to MMCSC, Dr. Almeida served as Regional Chairman of Emergency Medicine for both MMCSC and Monmouth Medical Center (MMC), and was widely recognized as a committed and respected leader for the EDs at both campuses. Dr. Almeida started at MMC in 2006 as a full-time ED staff physician. In 2012, he was named Chairman of the Department of Emergency Medicine at MMC prior to taking on the role of Regional Chairman, Department of Emergency Medicine in 2014.
A resident of Monmouth Beach, Dr. Almeida earned his Doctor of Osteopathy degree at the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey School of Osteopathic Medicine and completed his residency in Emergency Medicine at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital. Among his many honors and achievements, Dr. Almeida is a recipient of both the Distinguished Service Award and Clinical Expertise Award from the New Jersey Chapter, American College of Emergency Physicians, and is a Fellow of the American College of Osteopathic Emergency Medicine. He is a former President of the New Jersey Chapter, American College of Emergency Physicians, and serves as an Associate Clinical Professor at Rutgers – Robert Wood Johnson Medical School.
