NJ’s Largest School District Forcing Students to Mask in New School Year

The largest school district in New Jersey says it will continue to force students to mask at all “school locations and grounds” in the 2022-2023 school year.

The Newark School District said it will also require social distancing of 3 feet and that it made its decision in partnership with the local health department.

Gov. Phil Murphy recently lifted the vaccine-or-test requirement for schools across the state, but it’s apparent that Newark will keep that policy in place. Murphy had previously lifted the school mask mandate, but like the vaccine mandate, individual school districts have the power to enforce such policies on their own.
