Popular Children’s Specialized Hospital Moving to New Location on Route 37

Children’s Specialized Hospital of Toms River, used by many local families, will be moving in April to a brand new, 86,000 square foot building on Route 37.

The children’s hospital, will consolidate its outpatient services currently located at Lakehurst Road and Stevens Road in Toms River at the new building. Those services include developmental and behavioral pediatrics, neurology, physical medicine and rehabilitation, psychiatry and psychology, and occupational, physical, and speech therapy. An early intervention program currently on Washington Street will also be moving to the new building.

The hospital is very popular in Lakewood and surrounding communities, with many local children receiving services there.

The massive new center, located on an 8.7-acre parcel of land at the corner of the 37 and St. Catherine Blvd., will be shared by Children’s Specialized Hospital and Community Medical Center, both of which are part of the RWJBarnabas Health.

Community Medical Center will occupy 37,594 square feet in the three-story building, while Children’s Specialized Hospital will occupy the remaining 48,406 square feet.

The hospital says it expects about 50,000 outpatient visits to its new building in its first year.
