The Jackson Police Department is investigating a residential burglary which also involved a motor vehicle theft that took place on Tuesday May 10, 2022.
At 8:45 am, the agency received notification from the Closter Township Police Department located in Bergen County that a green 2022 BMW M4 which had been stolen in their township had been tracked by the owner to Jackson. The vehicle’s last known location was reported to be in the area of Woodstock Court and Huntington Drive so officers responded to the area in an attempt to locate the car. The area was checked and the vehicle was not located.
As officers attempted to determine if there was a possible updated location for the vehicle, at 8:56 am, a resident reported the theft of a 2020 Audi Q8 valued at $80,000.00 from their residence located on Bridgewater Court which is located off of Brewers Bridge Road.
Officers arrived on scene and first spoke with a neighbor who reported seeing the green BMW driving slowly through the neighborhood before going to the victim’s house. The investigation revealed that the suspects entered the victim’s open garage and then entered the residence itself through an unlocked interior door. While the homeowner was upstairs, the suspects went through several drawers in the kitchen and stole the homeowner’s purse which contained a wallet, credit cards, cash and other personal items along with the key fob for the Audi. They then stole the Audi and both vehicles were last seen driving toward Brewers Bridge Road. The BMW was later recovered in Newark and the location of the Audi is unknown.
Residents are asked to contact police headquarters at 732-928-1111 to report suspicious activity so officers can be dispatched to investigate it.
