In a historic win, a ticket sold at a ShopRite in Neptune Township has claimed the fifth-largest Mega Millions jackpot in the lottery’s history, totaling an estimated $1.13 billion. The winning ticket matched all five numbers – 7, 11, 22, 29, and 38 – and the Mega Ball 4, with a cash value of $537.5 million.
This monumental win comes after 31 consecutive drawings without a winner, dating back to December 8. The lucky ticket holder ended the drought, becoming an overnight billionaire – before fees and taxes.
Additionally, 13 other winners took home $1 million each, with one fortunate individual winning the $2 million Megaplier prize. A further 171 people hold tickets worth $10,000.
Tuesday’s jackpot ranks among the top five in Mega Millions history, with the largest prize being the $1.6 billion awarded on August 8.
The identity of the New Jersey winner has not been revealed – and might never be, as New Jersey allows winners to remain anonymous – but their life is about to change forever.
Contrary to some whatsapp rumors/joke, the winner was not a particular bachur it claimed won.
