A Sayreville, New Jersey councilwoman was shot and killed outside her home on Wednesday night, in an incident that officials do not have a suspect or motive yet.
The Republican councilwoman, 30-year-old Eunice Dwumfour, was found shot multiple times as she sat in her vehicle shortly after 7 pm Wednesday. Police who arrived to the scene attempted resuscitation efforts, but were unusuccessful.
“I can’t adequately express my feeling of sorrow at the loss of a friend,” said Sayreville Mayor Victoria Kilpatrick.
Dwumfour had been elected to a three-year term in November 2021 and was a member of the Human Relations Commission.
