Much-Needed Traffic Signals Coming to Several Critical Lakewood Intersections

The Lakewood Township Committee approved a resolution entering into an agreement with the state’s Department of Transportation to add turning signals at two major Route 9 intersections.

The first approved turning signal will be placed at the intersection of County Line Road and Route 9, which will allow people traveling south on the 9 to make a left onto County Line Road. Currently, drivers have to either turn left on Kennedy and then make a right to get to County Line, or go down to Courtney and circle back around, or make a right onto 15th Street and then another right to get to County.

The second turning signal will be placed at the intersection of Route 9 and Kennedy Boulevard, which will allow drivers to turn left onto Kennedy when driving north on the 9. Currently, drivers have to either make a left onto County and then a right to get to Kennedy or make a left into the Gourmet Glatt plaza and circle back around to Kennedy.

Additional signals are also expected to be placed along the 9, including at the 6th Street, 9th Street, and 4th Street intersections.
