Lakewood Police, Shomrim Investigating Attempted Kidnapping of Two Children

Lakewood Shomrim and the Lakewood Police Department are investigating after an attempted kidnapping in Lakewood on motzei shabbos.

According to a caller who contacted Shomrim’s 24-hour hotline at about 8:15 p.m., a black male wearing a ski mask exited a Jeep and chased two children, ages 4 and 8, in an apparent attempt to kidnap them.

The children managed to evade their pursuer, and the suspect fled.

The incident occurred in a densely populated neighborhood, and near a busy shul.

An investigation into the incident has commenced.
