Lakewood Askanim Call for a “Day of Chesed”

Yidden have no limits. No limits to the amount of money, time, or energy that we would use to help another Yid. Time is undeniably our most valuable asset, a currency we spend every day without replenishment. Its significance amplifies during seasons like this, where every minute becomes precious, urging us to prioritize wisely.

In this frenzy lies an opportunity to extend a helping hand, to give of our precious time to alleviate the burdens of others. Perhaps it’s volunteering to run an errand, tackling a portion of someone’s shopping list, or simply lending a listening ear amidst the chaos.

As we navigate the flurry of preparations, let’s remember that the most meaningful gifts often don’t come wrapped in fancy paper or adorned with bows. In a world where seconds tick by relentlessly, offering our time to cross something off another person’s list is a gesture of kindness that transcends material possessions, leaving a lasting imprint on hearts and minds alike.

Chesed of Lakewood has launched an ambitious initiative: a 48-hour Chesed Marathon: Operation Chesed aimed at rallying volunteers willing to contribute their precious time and energy to help others prepare for Pesach.

Participants can dedicate any amount of time, even a small portion, to making a difference in someone else’s life. Volunteer opportunities include cooking, cleaning, babysitting, home organizing, Kashering, shopping, moving heavy items, running errands and more.

As the clock ticks on this 48-hour journey of kindness, participants are reminded of the profound impact their actions can have on those they serve. It’s easy to sign up. Simply call to sign up call 732-901-0482, EXT 5 or text 848-238-9903. The impact will be immeasurable.
