A water main break on Park Avenue in Lakewood on Monday evening caused a deluge of water to shoot dozens of feet in the air, drenching the roadway and surrounding properties.
The Lakewood Police Department, Lakewood Fire Department, and New Jersey American Water are at the scene and working to resolve the issue as water continues to spurt forcefully from the ground.
It isn’t known yet what causes this water main break, but it is generally due to one of two culprits: age, and freezing weather.
Lakewood experienced unseasonably cold weather on Monday, though it isn’t known whether it played a role in the burst and subsequent epic display of waterworks.
