BREAKING: GOP Selects Jackson Councilman Alex Sauickie to Succeed Assemblyman Ron Dancer

Jackson Township Council Vice President Alex Sauickie was selected in a special GOP convention Thursday evening to fill the vacant 12th District Assembly seat of the late Assemblyman Ron Dancer.

Sauickie beat out two other candidates, both from Jackson: former Jackson Councilman Scott Martin and Dominick Cuozzo, a Plumstead Township Councilman.

Sauickie has been plagued by allegations of anti-Semitism and siding with anti-Orthodox activists in Jackson Township during his time on the Jackson Township Council.

Sauickie will now finish the remainder of Dancer’s term and is widely expected to be a shoo-in for the Republican nomination to be elected for the seat in the next general election.

The 12th District Assembly seat that is now Sauickie’s stretches from Old Bridge to Hanover and Ocean, Monmouth, and Middlesex counties represent about 30% of the district’s population, according to the NJ Globe. The rest of the district’s populace comes from Burlington County.
