2-Year-Old Girl Dies After Being Left in Hot Car

A sobering reminder of being careful to never leave children in cars came on Tuesday when a two-year-old girl passed away after being left in an overheated car in Somerset County.

Police and EMS responded to a home in Franklin Township on Tuesday afternoon for reports of a youngster who had been left in a vehicle. Police officers arriving at the scene found a neighbor – a member of the local fire department – performing CPR on the girl. She was tragically pronounced dead at the scene.

Temperatures in the area were at around 90 degrees when the tragedy occurred.

The Somerset County Prosecutor’s Office Major Crimes Unit and Franklin Police Department are now investigating the incident.
