A 53-year-old Lakewood man, Harold Galloway, has pleaded guilty to multiple charges, including selling crack cocaine, carjacking, and weapons charges, and now faces up to 15 years in prison.
Galloway’s troubles with the law began on August 19, 2021, when Lakewood police detectives observed him engaging in suspicious activity in a vehicle. When they attempted to stop him, he fled on foot, discarding a bag containing cocaine and a large sum of cash. He was later released under New Jersey’s bail reform laws.
In June 2023, detectives executed a search warrant at a motel room occupied by Galloway, seizing heroin, oxycodone, and a handgun. Again, he was released under bail reform laws.
However, on September 28, 2023, Galloway’s luck ran out. He was identified as the suspect in a carjacking incident on First Street, where he brandished a revolver and stole a Ford F150. Detectives executed search warrants at two motel rooms, recovering personal items belonging to the victims and the stolen truck.
Galloway was taken into custody and has been detained at the Ocean County Jail since then.
