Jersey City Becomes “Sister City” with Beit Shemesh, Israel

Jersey City Mayor Steve Fulop signed an agreement to make his city a “sister city” with Beit Shemesh, Israel – the 17th overall sister city relationship overall for Jersey City.

“Anti-Semitism is sadly on the rise across the country but in Jersey City we know that we stand for different values,” said Fulop, who attended a yeshiva as a child.

“We share many similarities with Beit Shemesh as fast growing/diverse cities and we look forward to facilitating a mutually beneficial long-term relationship,” he added.

The sister city initiative with Beit Shemesh came about through Gov. Phil Murphy’s New Jersey-Israel Commission, which promotes business and personal relationships between Israel and the Garden State.
