Four Hurt in Barnegat Bay Boat Crash Near Toms River

Four people were transported to the hospital Sunday night after a boat they were on ran aground in Barnegat Bay off the coast of Toms River, causing people to be thrown overboard.

Police say seven people were aboard the vessel when it crashed on Haskins Island at about 9 pm Sunday night.

Police and the Ocean Beach Volunteer Fire Company assisted in rescuing the stricken boat’s passengers, transporting three of them to local hospitals by ambulance and flying one by Medevac to a hospital for treatment of serious injuries.
