Relief for People with IBS, Crohn’s: Assemblyman Kean Joins as Bill Sponsor

Assemblyman Sean T. Kean (R-Monmouth/Ocean) is now a co-sponsor of A-5141 that permits a person diagnosed with Irritable Bowel Disease, Irritable Bowel Syndrome or Crohn’s Disease to park in parking spaces reserved for persons with a disability.

Assembly Bill 5141 was introduced on February 6, 2023, and was referred to the Assembly Transportation and Independent Authorities Committee. It is currently awaiting a vote in this committee.

“I joined this bill to help people with these conditions and improve their quality of life,” said Asm. Sean Kean. “Often times, people suffering with IBS or Crohn’s must urgently use the restroom. It is important that they can quickly find parking and access a restroom.”

These conditions can cause significant pain and discomfort, making it difficult for individuals to walk long distances.

Kean also remarked, “I have heard from constituents with IBS and Crohn’s that providing disabled parking privileges will greatly assist them and give them peace of mind.
