The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) is urging New Jerseyans to wear masks – even after President Joe Biden’s Monday announcement that he will be terminating the national emergencies governing the response to the pandemic on May 11th.
According to the CDC’s tracking of Covid-19, the majority of New Jersey still has elevated levels of Covid spread, including for counties with high levels of Covid: Atlantic, Cape May, Cumberland and Salem.
In areas with high rates of Covid, the CDC tells residents that they should wear masks even while outdoors, while in other area resident should use masks while indoors or on mass transit.
New Jersey does not currently have any mask mandates, though most medical facilities still require them.
