You Can Now Text Governor Murphy Directly On A Cellphone

No, this isn’t a joke and his personal cell number hasn’t been outed. Gov. Phil Murphy on Thursday unveiled a 732 number anybody in the state can text to ask him questions or provide comments.

But will he respond? Murphy says that he will “get back to as many of you as I can,” and added that he will use the number to “send updates from time to time.”

Texts to the governor can be sent to 732-605-5455.

The rollout of the texting number is something that various public officials and some celebrities have been incorporating in the last year or so. Notably, President Joe Biden had such a number set up, though it wasn’t quite as public, and was mostly used by reporters.
