A winter storm is set to impact the Lakewood region and much of southern New Jersey, with the National Weather Service (NWS) forecasting 4 to 6 inches of snowfall, with locally higher amounts possible. The snow is expected to begin as early as Tuesday afternoon, gradually spreading northward before tapering off late Tuesday night or early Wednesday morning.
According to the Mount Holly Weather Forecast Office, snowfall rates could exceed 1 inch per hour at times, making for hazardous travel conditions across the region. The heaviest accumulations are expected in areas south of the I-95 corridor, including Lakewood, Toms River, Jackson, and Manchester, where 4-6 inches of snow are forecast.
Further north, locations along the I-95 and I-78 corridors, including Philadelphia and Trenton, are expected to receive between 1 to 4 inches of snow.
The storm system may also bring a wintry mix near and northwest of I-95 Wednesday night, though this forecast does not yet include that period.
Residents should prepare for dangerous road conditions, particularly during the Tuesday evening commute. Those who must travel are urged to exercise caution, allow extra time, and stay updated on forecasts.
