Widespread Power Outage Hits Lakewood, Leaving Tens Of Thousands Without Electricity

Nearly 10,000 JCP&L customers in Lakewood were left without power on Sunday as a large-scale outage swept through the township of more than 150,000 residents.

JCP&L has not disclosed the cause of the outage but has provided an estimated restoration time of 5 PM.

Committeeman Menashe Miller expressed frustration over the blackout, vowing to hold the utility company accountable. “There should not be excessive usage right now, and therefore there is no explanation for an outage on this scale,” Miller said.

In response to the power disruption, Lakewood Police officers and Shomrim personnel were deployed to major intersections to direct traffic, as numerous traffic signals were affected by the outage.
