Police in Hamilton discovered four metal objects resembling pipe bombs during a routine traffic stop. The incident led to the arrest of Jeremy Gillberti, 51, of Mt. Laurel, who is now facing charges of possession of a destructive device.
According to Hamilton police, officers pulled over a green Honda just before 11 a.m. for a motor vehicle violation. During the stop, they noticed four metal pipes with caps and green wicks, which appeared to be similar to pipe bombs, on the passenger side floor of the vehicle.
As a precautionary measure, police closed down homes and businesses in the area while awaiting the arrival of the New Jersey State Police Bomb Unit. The unit obtained a warrant and subsequently searched Gillberti’s residence, where they discovered another device.
The State Police Bomb Unit safely confiscated all five suspicious devices for proper disposal. They were reportedly safely detonated in a movie theater parking lot.
Jeremy Gillberti was taken into custody and charged with possession of a destructive device. He is currently being held at the Mercer County Correctional Facility pending a detention hearing.
