WATCH: First Lady Tammy Murphy Officially Launches Bid For U.S. Senate

New Jersey First Lady Tammy Murphy on Wednesday morning announced that she is running for the U.S. Senate seat currently held by embattled Sen. Bob Menendez.

The race for the seat already includes Rep. Andy Kim (NJ-4), and possibly Sen. Menendez, who has insisted that allegations he took bribes to help businessmen and a foreign country, Egypt, are all bunk.

If Murphy is successful in her bid for the Senate, she would become the first woman elected to the Senate from New Jersey.

“We need a senator who will work every single day to lower the cost of living, protect abortion rights, end the gun violence epidemic, and defend our democracy,” Murphy said in announcing her run.
