A crash occurred on Tuesday at New Hampshire Avenue and America Avenue when a driver traveled in an opposing lane – and it only got weirder from there.
Shortly after the crash, a passenger involved in the accident unexpectedly fled the scene on foot—barefoot—leaving emergency responders and bystanders puzzled.
The man later returned to the scene, reportedly after being followed by a witness. Upon speaking with police, he allegedly provided a false name, raising further suspicions. He was subsequently evaluated by EMS personnel and transported to a hospital in Brick for medical treatment.
While at the hospital, the individual once again fled—this time abandoning the medical facility before receiving full care or being formally processed by police. Authorities later determined that the man had an active warrant for his arrest, which likely explains his erratic behavior and repeated efforts to avoid contact with law enforcement.
Police have not yet released the individual’s name or the nature of the outstanding warrant. The investigation remains ongoing.
