The spirit of Chanukah filled the halls of Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP) on Monday, as an uplifting menorah lighting ceremony unfolded on the fifth night of Chanukah.
Madeline Bell, CEO of CHOP, joined numerous patients, doctors, nurses, and administrators in attendance to partake in the celebration.
Rabbi Sruli Fried, MSW, Director of Chai Lifeline NJ/PA, addressed the large crowd, drawing parallels between the enduring miracles of Chanukah and the daily miracles witnessed within the hospital’s halls.
“In this remarkable hospital, we witness miracles every single day,” said Rabbi Fried.
Following his inspiring remarks, Rabbi Fried lit the menorah. A beautiful rendition of Maos Tzor, accompanied by Moshe Friedman on the keyboard and sung by Uzi Bodner, echoed throughout the large atrium.
Chai Lifeline extends a heartfelt thank you to the Spiritual Care Department at CHOP for its partnership in making this meaningful event a reality.
