Walmart’s Great Value Brand Apple Juice Recalled For Containing High Levels of Arsenic

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has announced a recall of 9,535 cases of Great Value 8-ounce Apple Juice sold at Walmart stores nationwide due to elevated levels of inorganic arsenic. The recalled product, made with 100% juice and packaged in 8-ounce PET plastic bottles, was sold in 31 states and regions, including Alabama, Connecticut, Delaware, and more.

The affected product has a UPC of 0-78742-29655-5 and a Best if Used by date of DEC2824 CT89-6. Consumers are advised to check their refrigerators and pantries for the recalled product and refrain from consuming it.

Inorganic arsenic, a known human carcinogen, can have severe health implications, including cardiovascular issues, skin problems, prostate gland damage, and nervous system damage. The National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences notes that while arsenic is naturally occurring, inorganic arsenic is more toxic than organic arsenic.

Consumers are urged to return the recalled product to Walmart for a full refund.
