Wall Of Shame: Jackson Releases List of 129 Properties Owing Over $14 Million in Back Taxes

In a move aimed at increasing transparency and enforcing tax compliance, Jackson Mayor Jennifer Kuhn has publicly released a list of 129 properties in Jackson Township with long-standing unpaid taxes totaling $14,238,677.23.

According to township officials, some of the delinquencies date back nearly four decades. The release fulfills a prior commitment made by Kuhn to disclose the extent of unpaid property taxes within the municipality.

Before making the information public, the township said property owners were given an opportunity to settle their outstanding balances. With that period now expired, the administration proceeded with publishing the names, associated properties, and amounts owed.

Kuhn described the initiative as the result of a comprehensive review and emphasized the need for accountability within the tax system. She stated that residents who consistently meet their tax obligations should not be burdened by those who do not.

Alongside the disclosure, the mayor announced the immediate implementation of a more aggressive and structured process aimed at recovering the unpaid funds and returning delinquent properties to productive use.

Township officials indicated that the effort marks the beginning of a broader initiative to address long-standing tax delinquencies and strengthen enforcement measures moving forward.
