The Walgreens store on South Hope Chapel in Jackson is set to close on Wednesday, April 3, joining a growing list of pharmacy chain locations being shuttered across the country.
As part of a strategic plan to reduce their footprint, Walgreens aims to close 150 stores in 2024, with Rite-Aid and CVS also scaling back their operations. Industry analysts attribute the closures to overexpansion, which has led to the decline of independent pharmacies.
Customers of the South Hope Chapel location will have their prescriptions transferred to the Walgreens on Harmony Road.
