A camp van was involved in a serious head-on crash on Wednesday afternoon at the intersection of County Line Road and Brook Road, leaving multiple people injured and prompting a large-scale emergency response.
Multiple Hatzolah ambulances rushed to the scene, treating patients on-site before transporting 14 patients, including 8 to Jersey Shore University Medical Center. Among the victims was a young patient who suffered the loss of numerous teeth as a result of the collision.
Lakewood police immediately closed off the roadway as emergency crews worked. Investigators are now examining the circumstances of the accident, with early reports suggesting that an oil slick on the road surface may have caused one of the vehicles to lose control.
