UPDATE: TOMS RIVER: NJSP Identifies Victim in Fatal Barnegat Bay Boat Crash; Three Others Injured

The New Jersey State Police have identified the victim in Saturday night’s fatal boating crash in Barnegat Bay as Michael T. Bereheiko, 26, of Green Brook, New Jersey.

According to investigators, the crash occurred at approximately 10:56 p.m. Saturday when a 32-foot Boston Whaler was traveling through the Intracoastal Waterway and struck an Intracoastal Waterway channel marker. The operator, Kevin Wells, 39, of Warren, then drove the damaged vessel to a residence on Silver Lagoon Drive in Toms River Township, where emergency personnel responded to render aid.

Bereheiko was transported to a local hospital, where he was pronounced deceased. Two other passengers, Steven Pochick, 27, of Green Brook, and Nicholas Cherasaro, 27, of North Plainfield, sustained serious injuries and were transported to area hospitals. Sarah Stulh, 24, of Bayville, suffered minor injuries.

The crash remains under investigation by the New Jersey State Police, and no additional information has been released.
