Two Drivers Airlifted After Extrication Rescue From Mangled Vehicles In Manchester

Emergency crews rushed to the scene of a severe two-car crash on Route 539, just north of Route 70 in Manchester, at 5:27 p.m. on Tuesday, according to the Whiting Fire Company Sta. 33.

Both drivers were trapped in their vehicles following the collision, which left both cars heavily damaged, authorities said.

Firefighters worked quickly to extricate the victims from the wreckage. After being freed, both patients were airlifted to Hackensack Meridian Jersey Shore University Medical Center for treatment of their injuries.

The cause of the crash is under investigation, and authorities have not released the identities of the drivers or their current conditions.
