Lakewood Police officers deployed long guns twice on Tuesday in two separate high-risk incidents. The first came during the active shooter scare at Beth Medrash Govoha, which was ultimately determined to be a false alarm caused by rooftop HVAC work.
The second occurred hours later when officers arrested an armed suspect who allegedly fired multiple shots near High Point before leading police on a high-speed chase through Toms River and Lakewood.
In both incidents, officers successfully resolved the situations without firing their weapons.
