Trump Slams Offshore Wind, Blames “Stupid and Ugly” Turbines for New Jersey Energy Cost Crisis

President Donald Trump on Tuesday unleashed a tirade against offshore wind projects, accusing “stupid and ugly windmills” of “killing New Jersey” while his administration moves to choke off the industry nationwide.

Posting on Truth Social, Trump fumed: “STUPID AND UGLY WINDMILLS ARE KILLING NEW JERSEY. Energy prices up 28% this year, and not enough electricity to take care of state. STOP THE WINDMILLS!”

The president’s broadside highlights his escalating war on renewable energy, a campaign that has already brought New Jersey’s multibillion-dollar offshore wind ambitions to a standstill.

Since reclaiming the Oval Office, Trump has systematically dismantled the industry’s regulatory framework. He has frozen permitting, withdrawn federal waters from new leasing, and ordered agencies to halt offshore wind approvals nationwide.

One major New Jersey project canceled its power contract this summer after federal regulators yanked its air permit. Shell has already abandoned another offshore development off the Garden State’s coast.

Analysts estimate that more than $100 billion in potential offshore wind spending is now imperiled. Nearly a dozen East Coast projects remain frozen in bureaucratic limbo, with developers reconsidering whether to move forward at all.
