TRAFFIC ALERT – LAKEWOOD: Route 9, Cedar Bridge Avenue Construction Begins July 26; Delays Expected

Beginning July 26, motorists in the Lakewood area should expect traffic delays as two major infrastructure projects get underway on Route 9 and Cedar Bridge Avenue.

According to the Lakewood Police Department, an NJDOT contractor will begin resurfacing and upgrading Route 9 from 2nd Street to Route 88. The project is expected to last approximately two weeks, with at least one lane of traffic remaining open in each direction throughout construction.

At the same time, a New Jersey Natural Gas contractor will begin replacing gas lines along Cedar Bridge Avenue from Hurley Avenue to Martin Luther King Jr. Drive. That project is expected to take about one week, and traffic will also be maintained with one lane open in each direction.

Officials noted that both projects have been scheduled during a period of lighter seasonal traffic to help minimize disruptions. Lakewood Police officers will be on hand to assist with traffic control as needed.

Drivers are encouraged to allow extra travel time, use caution in work zones, and follow all posted traffic directions.
