House Foreign Affairs Committee Chairman Michael McCaul said Tuesday he believes unidentified drones recently spotted over New Jersey and New York may be “spy drones” from China, even as Biden administration officials downplay the concerns, claiming many of the sightings involve commercial or benign aircraft.
“We want answers, but the response I’m getting is we don’t know whose drones these are,” McCaul told reporters ahead of a classified briefing for the House Intelligence Committee.
“I was with the NASA administrator, Bill Nelson. He said these drones have been reported over military sites, military bases. I would not think those are friendly. I would think those are adversarial,” McCaul said.
“My judgment, based on my experience, is that those that are over our military sites are adversarial and most likely are coming from the People’s Republic of China,” he added.
McCaul argued the incidents align with China’s recent actions. “I believe they’re spy drones, and the PRC and communist China is very good at this stuff. We know they bought land around military bases. This would be very consistent with their policy over the past couple of years,” he said.
Federal officials, however, have sought to temper public concerns. Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas and White House officials claim many of the drones are commercial, hobbyist, or law enforcement-related. A joint statement Monday from the FBI, FAA, Pentagon, and Department of Homeland Security also downplayed the threat.
“We assess that the sightings to date include a combination of lawful commercial drones, hobbyist drones, and law enforcement drones, as well as manned fixed-wing aircraft, helicopters, and stars mistakenly reported as drones,” the agencies said.
The sightings have fueled public speculation, particularly after notable incidents at key military and transportation sites. Drones were recently reported over New Jersey’s Picatinny Arsenal and Naval Weapons Station Earle, and Stewart International Airport in New York was temporarily closed Sunday due to drone activity near its airspace.
Meanwhile, Lakewood philanthropist Dr. Rich Roberts went on The Zev Brenner Show to clarify his recent social media posts regarding the mysterious drones spotted over New Jersey, which appeared to suggest that he believes the drones may be extraterrestrial aliens.
Speaking to Zev Brenner, Dr. Roberts vehemently pushed back against the idea that he actually thinks the drones are alien ships, explaining that his comments on social media was not a definitive claim but rather a possible logical conclusion based on the limited facts currently available to the public. He stressed that this possibility was not his personal belief but a logical deduction based on the given facts.
Dr. Roberts also shared new information, revealing that he has spoken with a high-ranking contact in the U.S. military who offered a different explanation. According to this source, the drones are likely classified U.S. military aircraft. While this military perspective adds a new dimension to the mystery, the drones’ behavior have continued to capture public curiosity.
In addressing his perspective on extraterrestrial theories more broadly, Dr. Roberts acknowledged a shift in his thinking, saying he used to think people who believed in alien spaceships visiting Earth were crazy. However, his stance began to change after the release of several high-profile videos showing unidentified aircraft executing maneuvers that appear to defy current human technological capabilities. These revelations, documented and acknowledged by credible military sources, prompted Dr. Roberts to consider the possibility of phenomena beyond conventional explanation.
To further bolster his position, Dr. Roberts cited Rav Aryeh Kaplan zt”l, who suggested that the existence of extraterrestrial life does not present any fundamental hashkafic problem.

Dr. Roberts, you are starting to worry me.When was your last checkup?
Ha
Dr Robers is a BAUCE.
He use to also believe in the covid vaccine……did he change his mind on that as well?
To me, the idea that aliens are traveling across trillions of miles of space simply to show off some cool maneuvers in the skies over NJ is not really a logical deduction, but whatever….

Lashon Hara became okay because of your disagreements?
What lashon hara? Dr. Roberts put his comments out publicly and I don’t see Lakewood Alerts making fun of him, either. They just reported what he said and then his clarification
With respect to Dr Robert’s, I’m not sure why those videos of ufo’s that defy known human technology can’t also be secret US aircrafts
