13 years ago today, a new shiur started in what was then a new restaurant – South Side Sandwich Shop, which was at the time located on River Avenue.
The shiur is still given every single Thursday night. In 13 years, R’ Shapiro has given approximately 676 shiurim, and has never missed a week – even giving one just minutes before his daughter’s chupah. And if he must be away, R’ Shapiro tapes a shiur so that all shiur attendees can have a shiur to listen to.
Additionally, the shiur is printed weekly in the Lakewood Shopper, giving a larger audience access to the torah being imparted at the Thursday night events.
The “bar mitzvah” shiur will take place tonight at Bikur Cholim headquarters on Prospect Street, at 9:30 pm.
All are welcome to join and listen to the shiur and wish mazel tov to its legendary leader.
