Toms River Resident Charged in Hit-and-Run Accident Leaving Pedestrian in Critical Condition

Ocean County Prosecutor Bradley D. Billhimer and Toms River Township Police Officer in Charge Peter Sundack announced that Stacy Jordan, 60, of Toms River, has been charged with Knowingly Leaving the Scene of a Motor Vehicle Accident resulting in Serious Bodily Injury. The charge stems from a hit-and-run incident that occurred in Toms River on September 21, 2024.

At approximately 9:38 p.m. on September 21, Toms River police officers responded to a report of a pedestrian being struck by a vehicle near Massachusetts Avenue and Mobile Lane. The victim, identified as Lance Carter, 25, of Toms River, was critically injured and taken to Community Medical Center. According to investigators, a vehicle traveling northbound on Massachusetts Avenue struck Carter before fleeing the scene.

Following an investigation conducted by the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office Major Crime Unit-Vehicular Homicide Squad, Toms River Police Department, and the Ocean County Sheriff’s Office Crime Scene Investigation Unit, Jordan was identified as the driver involved in the incident.

On September 27, 2024, Jordan was arrested in Toms River by law enforcement officers and taken into custody without incident. He was transported to the Ocean County Jail, where he awaits a detention hearing.
