A quiet neighborhood was shattered by horror on Saturday night as police discovered the lifeless body of 30-year-old Cheyanne Juarez inside her Hummel Drive home. Her husband, Gustavo Juarez-Perez, 38, now stands accused of her brutal murder.
According to Ocean County Prosecutor Bradley D. Billhimer, Juarez-Perez was charged with Murder, Possession of a Weapon for an Unlawful Purpose, and Unlawful Possession of a Weapon in connection with the shocking crime.
The nightmare unfolded around 9:15 p.m. on March 8, when officers from the South Toms River Police Department responded to a chilling 911 call reporting an unconscious woman. What they found inside the home was a scene of horror—Cheyanne Juarez lying motionless on the floor, blood staining her face, a belt wrapped tightly around her neck.
Despite emergency lifesaving efforts, she was pronounced dead at the scene.
An investigation—led by the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office Major Crime Unit, alongside the South Toms River Police Department and the Ocean County Sheriff’s Office Crime Scene Investigation Unit—quickly pointed to Juarez-Perez as the alleged killer. He was taken into custody at the residence without resistance and is now being held at the Ocean County Jail, awaiting a detention hearing.
