Toms River Hospital Evacuated After Suspicious Device Found In Emergency Room

A bomb threat prompted a partial evacuation of Community Medical Center in Toms River on Monday night. Authorities confirmed that a suspicious device found in the emergency room was deemed a fake by the New Jersey State Police bomb squad.

As a precaution, some patients were relocated to a safe area, according to multiple reports. The Ocean County Sheriff’s Office and Toms River Police Department responded quickly, with vehicles blocking hospital entrances during the investigation.

Fortunately, the device was determined to be non-explosive, and the situation was resolved without incident. An investigation into the source of the bomb threat is continuing.
