Toms River Home Damaged In Fire Caused By Lit Cigarettes [PHOTOS]

At approximately 7:55 AM on Sunday, the Silverton Fire Company was dispatched to a reported structure fire on Hovsons Boulevard in the Holiday City section of Toms River. First arriving units observed smoke and flames coming from the rear of the home extending into the attic space.

Crews from Silverton Fire Company, Pleasant Plains Fire Department, and East Dover Fire Company responded to the scene. First arriving units initiated an aggressive attack on the fire and had it under control in approximately 20 minutes. There were no injuries to civilians or emergency personnel reported.

The circumstances surrounding the cause of the fire appear to accidental in nature, caused by improperly discarded smoking materials. The fire is being investigated by Inspector Britton of the Toms River Bureau of Fire Prevention.
