Enjoy the perfect Sunday activity today, Sunday, November 3rd (from 1:30-4:00 pm), at the beautiful “Common Grounds” community garden. Live music, food, crafts, activities, petting zoo, pony rides, booths and more are sure to keep the entire family entertained!
Common Grounds is located at the John F. Patrick Sports Complex, off Vine Avenue and Salem Street in Lakewood. This beautiful plot of Lakewood Township park land was granted to the One Ocean County non-profit organization to serve as a base for its work to unify the diverse communities of Lakewood and surrounding towns.
Tova Herskovitz, Founder and Director of One Ocean County, along with Head Gardener Ayala Schlossberg, manage these Grounds. Adults and children of all ages and backgrounds tend to the garden, planting beautiful and unique flowers and plants. The Grounds serve as a tranquil oasis that promotes positive interactions amongst the general public, as well as a magnet for government officials and members of the media to learn more about Lakewood and its environs.
“The Fall Festival is our flagship event of the year, and this year’s festival is the most robust, fun filled event we’ve ever hosted,” says Tova Herskovitz. “We greatly appreciate the enthusiastic participation of our partners that helped make this a reality.” The 2024 Fall Festival boasts an impressive array of governmental, nonprofit, media and corporate partners, combining for a colorful and intriguing experience for all.
A primary partner of the Festival and general Common Grounds activities is Lakewood Township government. In addition to the Gardens being located on Township park land, Lakewood Public Works has been instrumental in establishing and maintaining the garden, and various Township employees are actively involved in its activities.
“We recognize the unity and positivity that One Ocean County and Community Gardens have helped foster in our region at so many levels,” says Committeeman Meir Lichtenstein, “and look forward to greeting and entertaining members of our diverse communities at the upcoming Festival.”
