An elderly woman using a walker was struck and critically injured outside the Evergreen Plaza on Sunday night, marking at least the third pedestrian hit in the Lakewood area within the past week.
The incident occurred at approximately 9:15 PM. Hatzolah paramedics rushed to the scene, where they found the woman unresponsive. Emergency responders performed CPR before transporting her to Jersey Shore University Medical Center in extremely critical condition.
Authorities are investigating the incident, with the area near Evergreen completely shut down.
This accident adds to growing concerns about pedestrian safety in Lakewood. Over the past week alone, at least two other individuals have been struck by vehicles in separate incidents – including a young boy in Toms River who was seriously hurt.
Please daven for Gittel Zlata bas Yehudis.

Until Lakewood drivers get off their phones until they obey the traffic laws until they stop taking red lights we are going to see more and more of this sadly to say. There is no excuse for the way Lakewood drivers drive here. Then we run to say tehillim for the hurt. Stop talking and texting. Obey the red lights and stop signs. We might have far fewer accidents.
