New Jersey First Lady Tammy Murphy is reportedly seriously considering a run to succeed embattled Senator Bob Menendez, who is facing serious bribery charges.
The New Jersey Globe reports that Tammy, the wife of Governor Phil Murphy, has been receiving calls about a potential run from New Jersey politicos, as well as connected Washington insiders.
However, the Globe notes that discussions are still in their early stages and that the First Lady has not made any final decision yet.
Menendez already has at least one challenger for his Senate seat, whose term expires in 2024. Congressman Andy Kim of New Jersey’s 3rd District, announced on Saturday that he would primary Menendez next year.
