A cleaning woman has been arrested and charged with theft after being caught on surveillance video stealing a watch worth thousands of dollars from a local shul.
When the expensive timepiece was missing, the shul’s security cameras were checked, in which the woman was clearly seen taking the watch.
Lakewood Shomrim, after identifying and obtaining the suspect’s contact information, devised a plan to have her arrested. They arranged for the woman to be hired for another cleaning job — but when she arrived, she was met by police officers.
Initially denying any involvement, the suspect eventually confessed and returned the stolen watch, which was promptly handed back to its rightful owner. The cleaning lady was subsequently taken into custody and charged with theft.
The idiot keeps on looking at the cam and still takes the watch…..
Not that it changes anything in this case but accurate reporting, that watch is not worth “thousands of dollars.” $1450 new, and can find under $1000 second hand. If it happened in NY it might change the charges because the minimum from grand larceny is $1000, but in NJ it’s $200, so she should still be charged with the same crime.
Lakewood Shomrim is incredible. They helped me more than once and refuse payment.
