State Police Seek Public’s Help in Fatal Garden State Parkway Crash

The New Jersey State Police are asking for the public’s help as they investigate a fatal motor vehicle crash that occurred Sunday afternoon on the Garden State Parkway in Middletown Township.

According to state police, troopers responded to the crash at approximately 1:34 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 28. A preliminary investigation determined that a black Toyota 4Runner was traveling southbound in the parkway’s express lanes when, near milepost 110.8, the vehicle left the roadway to the left, struck a guide rail, and overturned into the northbound express lanes.

The driver of the vehicle sustained fatal injuries as a result of the crash, police said. No additional details about the driver or whether other vehicles were involved were immediately released.

Investigators are seeking witnesses who may have seen the crash or have information about events leading up to, during, or following the incident. State police are also asking anyone with dash camera footage that may have captured the vehicle or the crash to come forward.

Anyone with information is urged to contact the Troop “D” Holmdel Station Detective Bureau at 732-441-4500, ext. 7417. Authorities said anonymous tips are welcome.
