The Howell Township Traffic Safety Unit investigated a motor vehicle crash, which occurred on Squankum Road near the intersection of Herbertsville Road early Wednesday morning.
At approximately 8:01am, a 58-year-old resident of Brick was driving a 2012 Audi A3 and turned right from Herbertsville Road onto Squankum Road northbound, utilizing the merging lane at.
As the driver was entering Squankum Road, they crossed the centerline and collided into a 2024 Kenworth Dump truck driven by a 62-year-old resident of Pennsylvania, in an offset head-on manner.
The operator of the Audi A3 sustained injuries and was transported to a local area hospital for treatment. The operator of the 2024 Kenworth Dump Truck did not report any injuries at the time of the incident.
Due to the severity of the crash the roadway remained closed for a prolonged duration.
In addition to the Howell Township Police Department, the other responding entities include: New Jersey State Police, Squankum Fire Company, Ramtown Fire Department, Howell Township Fire Bureau, Monmouth County HAZMAT, Howell Office of Emergency Management, Howell Police EMS, Robert Wood Johnson Paramedics, Monmouth County Highway Department, and Certified Auto Mall.
