A tragic accident occurred on the Garden State Parkway in Toms River on Sunday, resulting in the death of a 26-year-old Beachwood man and serious injuries to a 49-year-old Toms River man.
According to New Jersey State Police, Antonio Caprara, a South Toms River police officer, was riding a Kawasaki motorcycle on the right shoulder of the Parkway when he collided with an SSR dirt bike ridden by Lenny Ritorto, who was entering the highway from the Exit 81 ramp.
Both vehicles crashed, and the riders were thrown from their bikes. Caprara was pronounced dead at the scene, while Ritorto was taken to a local hospital with serious injuries.
Antonio Caprara was sworn in as a South Toms River police officer in 2022.
