Jackson Township’s long-anticipated expansion project for South New Prospect Road is on track for completion by the end of October, township officials announced this week. The project, aimed at enhancing traffic flow and safety along the busy roadway, marks a major milestone for the area, which has seen rapid growth in both residential and commuter traffic.
The plan, originally announced in February, will expand the current two-lane road into three lanes, with one lane for northbound traffic and two lanes heading south. This configuration is designed to better accommodate the increasing volume of vehicles traveling through Jackson, Howell, and Lakewood, particularly those using the road to connect to County Line Road and the Brookwood developments in northeastern Jackson Township.
Mayor Michael Reina, along with Council President Jennifer Kuhn and Councilman Mordechai Burnstein, met earlier this year with Ocean County Commissioner Frank Sadeghi and county officials to address local concerns about traffic congestion and safety on South New Prospect Road. Their efforts have since led to a collaborative agreement with the county to move the project forward in 2024.
What a joke..this will do nothing to improve the overabundance of traffic..perhaps all the ‘traffic’ causing the insane congestion should consider carpooling, since all the vehicles are headed to the same place at the same time on the same days.
