A New Jersey college student whose entire immediate family was killed in a devastating car crash is suing Tesla in federal court, alleging that the company’s Autopilot system caused the crash that took the lives of his parents and younger sister.
Max Dryerman, 19, was not in the car when his father David Dryerman, 54, lost control of the family’s 2024 Tesla Model S on the Garden State Parkway near Woodbridge on September 14. The vehicle veered off the northbound lanes near the Metropark exit, crashing into a sign, a guardrail, and a concrete bridge support. David, his wife Michelle Dryerman, 54, and their 17-year-old daughter Brooke were all pronounced dead at the scene.
Max, who had just started classes at Drexel University in Philadelphia and a co-op position with the Naval Sea Systems Command, is now the sole surviving member of his immediate family. According to the lawsuit, he blames Tesla’s “defective and unreasonably dangerous design” for the accident and says the Autopilot system failed to brake or respond to road conditions.
The suit also alleges that Tesla failed to adequately warn David Dryerman about the limitations and safety risks of using Autopilot or Full Self-Driving (FSD) features on local roads.

Its Very hard to sue tesla, since every move the driver makes they have recorded, and they can usually prove that the driver was at fault.
To blame a car company because of user stupidity is insane. Sad that a family was killed but trusting that everything will work perfectly is crazy.
