Six New York men were arrested and charged after posing as NYPD officers during a November armed robbery of a New Jersey home in November.
On Thursday, November 17, 2022, at approximately 10:22 a.m., the Fair Lawn Police Department received a 911 call reporting a home invasion that occurred at a residence. The actors involved posed as law enforcement officers, displaying NYPD-style detective badges. After being invited into the residence, they tied up the homeowner and stole cash and jewelry before fleeing the scene. The Fair Lawn Police Department notified the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office (“BCPO”) Special Investigations Squad and a joint investigation was initiated.
During the investigation, Michael D’Angelo, Daniel Ruggiero, Dominick Memoli, Bruno Simonetti, Erion Beshiri and Sian Stafford were identified as suspects.
On Monday, BCPO detectives and Special Agents from the FBI Safe Streets/Violent Crimes Task Force executed a search warrant and multiple arrest warrants in Bronx, NY, Mount Vernon, NY and Long Island, NY. All six defendants were arrested without incident.
The suspects were charged with various crimes, including first-degree kidnapping, robbery, armed burglary, weapons charges, and multiple other offenses.
